At Studio M Dance Company we believe in creating a community of positive, well-rounded dancers that are skilled to conquer any stage or dance floor.
Dance is where artistry and athleticism meet, and this theme carries through all classes taught at Studio M Dance Company. With our experienced and enthusiastic instructors, students receive this type of training that turns them not just into successful dancers, but accomplished human beings, prepared to achieve whatever they set their minds to.
At Studio M Dance Company, we aim to be the leader in dance education for our community. We are passion about instilling proper technique, proper terminology, confidence and poise in all of our students. We off many styles of dance, as well as powering tumbling, competition classes, and adult classes, for all and any skill level.

Meet Our Instructors

Martha Grosshans
Owner | Director | Instructor | Choreographer
Martha has been dancing her whole life, but started her dance career at the age of 15 when she was an assistant teacher and choreographer at Dance Atlantic in Atlantic, IA.
​
At 19 years old, Martha owned and directed Greenfield Dance Academy & GDA Competition Team in Greenfield, IA for 3 years. She taught and choreographed all Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, and Power Tumble performances for Creative Movement to Adult Classes. Along with her time in Greenfield, Martha coached and choreographed for the Greenfield High School Dance Team for 2 years.

Martha sold the Greenfield Studio and moved to Paola, KS to teach at Dance Expressions for 7 years where she taught Pointe, Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop, Power Tumble, Lyrical, Modern, Character, and Ballroom. She choreographed for the annual recitals and their Competition Team: solos, duets, trios, small groups, large groups, and productions for 3-year-olds to 18-year-olds. For 2 years, she was the assistant coach for the Paola High School Dance Team and was the head coach for 3 years. Martha choreographed all dance routines that were performed for the half-time shows at basketball games and the annual spring performance.

With her time at Dance Expressions, Martha was hired at Valley Dance Company in Shenandoah, IA to teach and choreograph Hip Hop for the annual recitals and hired at The Turning Pointe Dance Company in Shawnee, KS to teach and choreograph Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop, and Power Tumble for the annual recitals and Competition Team for 3 years.
Martha has choreographed and substituted for Center Stage Danz Competition Team in Elkhorn, NE as well as substitute taught at Dance Atlantic in Atlantic, IA.

In 2010, Martha opened and directs Studio M Dance Company in Plattsmouth, NE and has been open for 15 years!
​
Among teaching and choreographing at many dance studios, in 2000 Martha went to Teacher Training School in Buffalo, NY and in 2002 got her certification through Dance Masters of America (DMA). She became a member of the Kansas City Chapter 34 and in 2009 because a member of the Mid-West Chapter 47. Martha has won numerous awards for choreography and staging at Regional and National Competition Levels. Many of her past students have gone on to have a career in dance, such as The Rockettes, Aerialist on Cruise Ships, College Dance Teams, and Master Teachers.

Martha continues her dance education with Dance Masters of America (DMA), CHI Studios, PBT Training, and attending dance conventions.

Melinda Union
Instructor | Choreographer | Social Media Manager
Melinda has been dancing for 12 years and teaching for 9 years. She started dancing at Studio M Dance Company in Plattsmouth, NE her sophomore year of high school at the age of 15.
​
Through Studio M, she competed at the Plattsmouth Lions Club Talent Competition in 2014 with a Ballet group dance which placed 2nd and in 2015 with her senior contemporary solo which placed 2nd.
Melinda tried out and made the Conestoga Cougarettes Dance Team her senior year. The CHS Dance Team went to Universal Dance Association (UDA) Camp and received many awards such as 110% Award, Superior Team Trophy, and 2nd Place for their Hip Hop home routine which got them an invitation to compete in a National Dance Competition. Melinda was also invited to dance in New York City, NY at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. The CHS Dance Team competed at the UNO Dance Team Competition and placed 1st with their Hip Hop Routine & completed at Nebraska State Cheer & Dance and placed 6th in their Pom & Hip Hop routine. Melinda participated in the CHS Dance Team Dance Clinic, Hip Hop Halftime Performance, and 4th of July Youth Dance Camp teaching K-6th grade students dance routines.

After graduation, Melinda stayed at Studio M Dance Company to continue working on her technique and was a Student Helper with the Kinder and Youth classes. In 2017, she became a part of the SMDC Competition Team and competed for 5 years. Within those 5 years, Melinda has attended Dance Masters of America’s Dance Conventions. She has completed multiple solo routines at Leap, Bravo, and Spotlight Dance Competitions and has won three 1st Place Overalls (two at Regionals and one at Nationals), Scholarships, Judges Awards, and serval Plaques & Metals.

In 2020, Melinda had the opportunity to work with The Moving Company, UNO’s Modern Dance Team through Studio M Dance Company. The Moving Company created a virtual showcase performance: Connecting Creative Communities Across Nebraska.
​
Melinda has taught serval workshops and summer classes at Studio M including a Cheer workshop and Pop’s Place Tumble Camp.
​
Throughout the years, Melinda has danced in all Studio M’s annual dance recitals in every style (Pointe, Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop, Lyrical, & Power Tumbling) with solos, duets, trios, and group routines. She has been teaching alongside Martha and now is choreographing Hip Hop group routines and Competition Solos.

Melinda plans on attending dance workshops & conventions to further her education and is getting her certification through Dance Masters of America this summer
